Various audio recordings from sites of influence.
This idea initiated with the cliche philosophical thought-experiment, “If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
I originally attached a four track recorder to trees and found the translation way too literal. I instead opted for a more metaphorical expansion of this concept: sites of art historical, sociological, ecological and historical significance.
As the decades decay and years swim over over me, the sites, too, will transfigure, alter, fall apart and metamorphose into something new or lost. I find the modularization of this concept equally compelling: the archive is given a face and data acquires a personality and potential for remembrance and activism.
Best experienced with headphones.
